Dave Petrescue is a Canadian of Romanian and Ukrainian descent. He grew up on a farm in Southern Saskatchewan where the daily chores and many tasks built into him a solid work ethic. Right from young he looked for a challenge, whether it was the biggest stone to lift, the highest tree to climb or the toughest ram to ride.
When he was nine years old his parents met Jesus for the first time and it became life changing for their family (his father was delivered from alcoholism). The subsequent miracles that Dave witnessed in his home created in him a deep spiritual awareness.
However, from ten years of age on he grew street wise in Regina, getting more and more involved in trouble, vandalism, theft and crime. His early teen years were loads of fun mixed with a lot of pain. At sixteen Dave was dramatically saved and filled with the Holy Spirit. He immediately began to win friends and others to Christ as he modeled a living, vibrant relationship with Christ. His desire for adventure sent him on a trip to three continents. While backpacking in West Africa and spending time working with missionaries he sensed the Lord’s call upon his life for full time ministry. He returned to Regina and graduated from Canadian Bible College in 1977 with degrees in Christian Education and Theology. He is presently completing a Doctorate in Ministry degree from Asbury Theological Seminary.
Dave married Brenda, his teen sweetheart, in 1975. Over the years they have enjoyed a wonderful union and are still best friends. God blessed them with Janelle Joy in 1979, with Timothy Norman in 1982 and with Michelle Marie in 1984.
All three now live in Langley, BC. Dave served as a C&MA Pastor in Canada for 13 years. Since 1992 he has been the Senior Pastor of the Maadi Community Church, an International Church in Maadi, Cairo, Egypt. The church has grown exponentially since that time from a congregation of 120 to a movement of churches and ministries touching the lives of thousands both in Egypt and abroad. Dave has authored a few books and his articles occasionally appear in the Alliance Life magazine.
